If you looking to get your hands on the Blackberry Bold, it looks as if you may have to wait a little longer.  According to new reports out today, Research In Motion is expected to delay the release of its next-gen BlackBerry Bold. A bunch of problems relating to software issues, battery life problems, and overheating are causing the delay of the product, which is expected to move the launch date to mid-August instead of a July release. Crackberry addicts who were expecting the phone in July are not going to be too happy with this delay.

iPhone 3G leaked Photos fake?

With the launch of the new 3G iPhone just two days away, photos have emerged purportedly showing the iPhone 2. The photos look somewhat legit, but they are being called into question from numerous tech blogs across the net including Engagdet.

We do have to agree with Engadget when it comes to the video chat images. Ryan Block states, "No Apple design would be laid out the way this guy's got his page laid out here." We have to agree -- Apple designs are normally clean and minimalist; not jumbled as these images are.

On Thursday Verizon Communications agreed to buy Alltel for approximately $28.1 billion, which now makes Verizon the largest cellular phone provider in the U.S.  Here's a snipet from the NY Times:

The deal catapults Verizon’s wireless business ahead of AT&T Wireless, which falls to No. 2, followed by Sprint Nextel and Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile. The combination of Verizon, based in New York, and Alltel, based in Little Rock, Ark., will create a company with more than 80 million subscribers. Verizon adds coverage in Midwest and the South.

Verizon Wireless may be in the midst of acquiring rival Alltel, according to a report on CNN Money. As they state, this deal if completed would create the largest mobile phone carrier in the U.S., which would be a huge challenger for AT&T.

According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal, the deal could be worth $27 billion. The delicate negotiations involve multiple financiers, including private equity firm TPG Capital and the group of banks which supported Alltel's $27.5 billion buyout last year.
